EXPLORE Studios
Black Walnut Books is a Native and queer owned bookstore that focuses on books by Indigenous, queer and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) authors and artists. In addition to new, used and sale books, we carry gift items like stickers, prints, patches, pins, flags, hats, greeting cards, games and puzzles. We have five book clubs that are open to the public, including the horror book club that we co-host with Beldame Books (studio 118 E). We also have a children's bookstore, Little Black Walnut Books, down the hall in studio 111 where you can find books for infants to middle graders, family games and puzzles, toys and a seating area complete with coloring station. We host author events, community gatherings, book clubs and craft nights there.
We are open until 8pm on Thursdays when The Shirt Factory Food Truck Corrals are happening mid-May through mid-September. Please email to schedule a browsing appointment if you need to come in outside of our regular hours or if you would like to have a masked personal shopping time.
